every time I install a game/rip music my mouse cursor becomes laggy. It kinda stutters from one place to another instead of providing fluid motion. I'm using a 16x sony DVD-ROM drive, which I bought about 8 months ago. This is really annoying, so any help suggestions would be appreciated.
 
What's the rest of your system specs? The problem kinda sounds like you don't have UDMA enabled on your drives.
 
I've selected "DMA if available" on both IDE channels in the device manager. My hard drive manages to run in DMA mode 5, but my DVD player stays in PIO mode.
