Laggy cable modem

So about 1/4th of the time when I click on a link it just thinks and attempts to "resolve" the website. It basically just stalls.

It also lags badly in games.. but only on and off.

Anyone dealt with a problem like this?
 
ping the modem.

If the modem pings good then I would call yourprovider.

run a continues ping as well not just the standard 4 packet ping.
 
Call your cable provider.

I had a similar situation last year and I found out everyone who had cable internet in our complex had the same problem since they had about 20 tickets from the same area. They came out and fixed it and all was good.
 
Called tech support, and I found out after talking to them for hours that 1000s of customers may have been affected by a laggy router for weeks by this.

Apparently I am the first one to actually report this however. (I just got back here from college).....
