Lag Problem in PC Games

As a little background, I have a pretty good internet connection. I have a 2wire 2701hg-b router and I get download speeds of about 2.50 mbps and upload speeds of 0.50 mbps. I've never had connectivity or speed issues with my internet. I play Xbox Live, hardwired through my router, with no lag at all.
However, when I try to play PC games online, I get a ping of around 600-800. As you could imagine, the lag is unbelievably bad and the game is unplayable. I have tried opening the necessary ports on my router, but that didn't work.
I'm not sure what to do at this point. Any help you guys could offer would be much appreciated!

Try connecting directly to your cable modem/dsl. If the problems continue then you'll know its your computer. If they stop, then you'll know it's the router. Once you figure out for sure where the problem is you can try and fix it.

Try googling game booster and see if it actually helps. I used it for this one game and it helped ease all the lagging. Let me know if that solve your issue if its not your connection problems.

Better to post this on dslreports.com. They have a forum you can post on about the issue.

Look in the lower right corner of your desktop.
How much crap do you have running down there?

I've had a 2 wire router before and the modem was integrated into the router.

Is that the case, bigtymer001? What OS are you using?
