Lag in viewing emails in Outlook

I just did a fresh install of XP and Office 2002. I restored my Outlook email with a backed up .pst file. I have never done this before. Usually I just wipe all of my emails and start over. Now when I preview my emails with the preview pane (same as I used to do) it takes a good 5 seconds for the email to pop up in the window at the bottom. It has never done this before and is totally anoying. The only other thing I did was install all of the Office updates. Not sure if a new update had come out since the last time I updated my old install of Office. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it, because this is driving my nuts.

Go to TOOLS>Options>OTHER>and then at the bottom make sure enable Instant messaging in Outlook is unchecked
