My school food looked just as bad and/or worse that that crap she ate.

and they said in response to her..

"I really think what Mrs. Q showed was in a great, great, great minority," said Helen Phillips, president-elect of the association. "The media picks up on those stories because it plays into a stereotype of school meals."

and Ill say bullshit. The 4 school districts around my area all serve the same crap.

A great great great minority? What a fucking stupid bitch. School lunches are standardized. There's no "great great great minority".

Why is everything individually wrapped? Individually wrapped food liked that is more expensive and usually tastes terrible. Don't school cooks actually cook anymore? I actually liked school lunches when I was a kid.

No they dont. They just reheat things brought in. It's cheaper probably. Only poor kids eat this shit anyhow. If their parents weren't so lazy and stupid they could give there kids a better future by giving them a better diet that would help them in school. Capitalism at work creating dynasty.

Pretty much, they look like the same crap we were served in High School more than a decade ago. Though the stuff served then wasn't individually wrapped.
It's either tasteless or tastes horrid and your are likely to get better nutrition from a bag of skittles and a can of Coke.

My school wasn't so bad. But because of my works outs in the morning and after school, if I ate anything more than a salad and bake potato, I was puking my guts out. Then again I was swimming for ~2 hours starting at 430AM before school and another 2-3 hours afterward with another hour or two of soccer practice. So I was used to eating massive dinners.

But I digress. My high school had several different food lines to choose from including a salad/potato line. This line was no different than any Souper Salad place. They had the normal "junk food" line which always served pizza, burgers, chicken tenders, and chicken sandwiches. Then they had a main course line which changed daily. Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was terrible. As I said, most of the time I was in the salad line anyhow because I couldn't keep anything heavier down due to my workouts. This was mid 90's though. I don't remember much about the food in school levels before high school though. I do remember usually bringing my lunch back then though more often.

My school was at 90% on reduced/ free lunch including me as one of them. Same junk. Wrapped food that they buy in masses and reheat every morning. They used to praise the lunch ladies at my school for all the work.they do. Lol yea put a giant rack of premade food in a microwave. Then they banned soda and replaces it with Gatorade. Um more sugar for inactive kids. Same shit.

BS My kids school lunches are $3 a day. I can make a whole week of sandwiches for $3. All this outsourcing cost more as usual and probably not as healthy. For one thing it's all processed garbage and you know kids won't eat the corn syrup laced fruit and boiled gray veggies when they have a choice.

Your sandwiches are devoid of nutritional value.

Strangely, I enjoyed my lunches in elementary school. Well, except when I choked on that tater tot. Then again, I pretty much ate only Chinese food at home, so anything different was amazing.

Have you guys actually looked around at people lately. A third of adults I see walking around are clinically obese, another third are significantly overweight, and a quarter are what I refer to as skinny-fat (thin as rail, but look 4 months pregnant).

And then we're curious as to why our kids don't eat healthy foods?

The kids don't get what healthy food is. Salads = healthy, but beyond that, most Americans are lost.

Oh, bullshit, JStorm...

School lunches are your parties idea. The Democrats.

You have taxed me to pay for kids eating TV dinners.

Own up to it.

Let them starve. Why are you saying it like I give a damn? I'm just saying poor kids eat that shit (the ones who get to eat it for free zebo not if your white suburb kids decide to eat it and it costs $3)

The subsidized meals at my HS were actually the same thing they charged us 5 bucks for. Usually a chicken salad/spaghetti with meatballs/pizza/turkey burger/something.

I actually went to HS in the same city as AznAnarchy did, different side of the tracks though so to speak. I usually brought my own sandwich and whatever else on my own.
