First ad I saw I thought "Haven't we already had a movie on this?" Yes, backdraft. This movie looks like total tripe. I'm glad that RT agreed.

I kinda see what Staley8 is getting at; I have noticed (and rather annoyingly so) how NYC policeman and fireman are seen as some "Big Nuts Harry Stamper" sort of uber Gods all of a sudden...

Have some respect for those donut eaters 🙂, without them crispy creame would be out of business, thanks to the low carb fad.

whats with all the travolta bashing? I think hes a good actor, he havn't had any really good movies lately though, he was awesome in FaceOff tho.

I saw the movie last night, it was pretty good.

Yeah, Backflash Part Deux is also what I thought about when I first heard of the movie. I won't see it, but I also don't have anything negative to say about it.

I'm not calling them peons or wahoos. I do have a lot of respect for them, espeically the old school guys who didn't have the gear they have now, but I do respect them all. I just don't need to hear about how heroic they all are. And do you know how often they actually run into a fire to save somebody? Not that often. I'm sorry that everyone thinks firemen are untouchable.....tell that to the shift up here that got caught picking up a hooker in the fire truck then taking her back to the firehouse to have a little bukakke party...ahh, our tax dollars hard at work.

You may as well have called them that. You've only got respect if they use old school equipment... Good stuff! I guess you dont have respect for the NFL players of today then, or our current armed forces. It's really great that you equate the entire fireman force in the United States to a few bad apples, I presume all priests are also child molestors?

You rarely hear about the good ANYONE does, you only hear the bad. Why? Because it makes news and causes people to talk. Do you have anyone close to you in a fire department anywhere? I didnt fsking think so.

You rarely hear about anything bad that fireman do in my opinion. And yes, one of my best friends is a fireman and 2 of my neighbors are EMT's on ambulance crews who work quite closely with firemen everyday. I understand and respect most of them, I'm just saying I know what goes on at these firehouses and how a lot of these guys (and a few women) think and they aren't super hereos or untouchables like the movies make them out to be. How many firefighters do you know (seeing how you turned this into a pissing contest).

Also, No where did I say I "only" have respect for the old school guys, I said "especially" for the old school guys, now stop twisting my words and generalizing my statements in a pathetic and futile attempt to win a debate.

My mistake about the "only" comment, I misread under duress of my ire. One of my best friends is a fireman as is my uncle (well, he used to be a fireman... but now runs with the EMTs), the way you were talking made it sound as if you didnt know anyone, and it wasnt meant as a pissing contest.

My whole anger derived from your original post, in which you stated:
I don't want to see any more movies about how firefighters are the ultimate heroes and they are the most awesome people in the world. When in reality most of them that I know are a bunch of cocky a-holes who live for the adrenaline rush (not to actually help anybody) and have a cushy retirement package that is not dependent on the stock market like the rest of us. So it's safe to say I won't be seeing it.
Where you seem to broadly generalize all firemen into "cocky a-holes who live for the adrenaline rush". That, my friend, will get your lynched.

And to everyone who's tired of people with FDNY and NYPD on their cars, saluting them for 9/11? Please, they had to endure one of the biggest disasters of the last 20 years. There's no reason to get irritated just because YOU think the messages on peoples' bumpers are proclaiming them Gods. These people are showing respect, not only for what they had to deal with in the aftermath, but also for those that died rushing into the buildings while everyone else was rushing out. It seems that respect and patriotism has long since left us.

itd be awesome if they used scientology to put out the fires.

there is no way im going to see that movie. the trailer showed all the chracter development. the new guy getting pranks played on him, his gelling with the team, a wedding, a funeral, a moment of decision. the only thing the trailer seemed to leave out was the credits.
