Ladder 49

i dunno but Joaquin Phoenix twisted my friends nipple at a party while making that movie in bmore

true story...he found a college party after shooting one night and my friend was there...they started just talking, then my friend got drunk and goes to a girl, "you know who that is?" and she got all excited and Joaquin got pissed because he blew his cover

no one else had noticed him wearing the Bmore fire department shirt...so Joaquin comes over and grabs my friend by the nipple and twists...

who the hell twists other mans nipples?

The stupid music in the trailer turned me off instantly to this movie. Plus, I can just picture Travolta being an over-emotional fireman, which is retarded.

Hehe, I love that movie. I still get freaked out by Kurt Russel's "face tremble/shake." He does it the first time after he kicks his brother's ass and the other firefighters are holding him back...then he does it the second time when he's holding axe by one arm from the scaffolding at the end of the movie.

I don't want to see any more movies about how firefighters are the ultimate heroes and they are the most awesome poeple in the world. When in reality most of them that I know are a bunch of cocky a-holes who live for the adreniline rush (not to actually help anybody) and have a cushy retirement package that is not dependent on the stock market like the rest of us. So it's safe to say I won't be seeing it.

:| Seriously, how many A list movies have there been about firefighters? You make it sound like theres been a huge outpouring of them. In my opinion, any job where you put your life on the line whenever you "go to work" is call for praise enough, and anything as noble as trying to save peoples' lives, or fight for your country is damn heroic. Take your brazen attitude and shove it. :|

I promise you I wouldn't see this if you paid the ticket and gave me $20.00 for my time. I'm sick of this Hollywood fluff. They are really running out of ideas over there.

Staley8, where has the bug up your ass come from anyway? It seems like you only make two posts these days, either a sports one or one that appears to be trolling. Stop being a dick all the time.

I'm sorry, I guess I'm not allowed to have my own opinion on firefighters or a firefighter movie.

I change my post to: "Firefighters are true heroes. They deserve all the praise they get. This movie looks a lot like backdraft. This movie has River Pheonix's brother and John Travolta in it. I might see it sometime but only after I read rottentomato reviews"

Dude...i didn't say that. You just seem to be a real dick lately and i don't remember you as one in the past.

Until you walk a mile in their shoes, dont fvcking talk about them as if they're peons and wahoos while you can sit behind your computer all day typing words on a screen and not being in any danger. Who cares if they're a bit brash? You've gotta be a little bit nuts to be running through fires to save a little girl who's passed out in a cloud of smoke. If one day you happen to procreate, then little Staley accidentally starts a fire on your stove while you're not around, you're going to be thanking your lucky stars that there's firemen in this world that would risk everything they have to save him.

ps. my comments are directed at your firemen views, not your views of the movie, which I'm sure will suck.

I'm not calling them peons or wahoos. I do have a lot of respect for them, espeically the old school guys who didn't have the gear they have now, but I do respect them all. I just don't need to hear about how heroic they all are. And do you know how often they actually run into a fire to save somebody? Not that often. I'm sorry that everyone thinks firemen are untouchable.....tell that to the shift up here that got caught picking up a hooker in the fire truck then taking her back to the firehouse to have a little bukakke party...ahh, our tax dollars hard at work.

how many GOOD movies about firefighters have there been?

i am in awe of what firefighters (and police officers, and paramedics, and ER docs) do every day - they save lives. but when hollywood decides to make some cheese-ass flick that is about as realistic as iraq's WMD's, i have a problem with it (note to hollywood producers - when something burns, it produces smoke - you might want to try adding some of that to your sets when you shoot a burning room).

it's not that they don't deserve the recognition, it's that a crappy movie does nothing to salute the brave souls who do this everyday. instead of glamourizing the job, show people what it's really like, how hard it is, and what the people who do it are like...

give me a documentary (without john travolta/special effects) on firefighting anytime...

You wanna know why firefighters run into a building on fire while everyone else is running out.

BECAUSE ITS THEIR FSCKING JOB

maybe the stupidest line I've ever seen used in a nationwide advertissement.

I kinda see what Staley8 is getting at; I have noticed (and rather annoyingly so) how NYC policeman and fireman are seen as some "Big Nuts Harry Stamper" sort of uber Gods all of a sudden...
