Lack of "smilies" in new system

I was just curious if its possible to get back the old mainstay smilies like :beer; and :thumbsup:

We can add emoticons, but they need to be emoticons that we can freely use. We can't use the old FT emoticons.

The ones that were here didn't come with the original FuseTalk. Some were made by MechBGon. (Notice a couple there?) Although I still wonder how ViRGE can use the cow but nobody else can. :\

But see also the Greasemonkey thread for a way to get a lot of your favorite emoticons back. 😉

If I were to custom design some new emoticon's and freely give them to Anandtech forums to use would that be acceptable?

You mean "😛"? It's there; it's just not in the small smilies list. It should probably be moved there, maybe in place of :biggrin:.

But I never clicked to make it anyway. Just make sure to use a capital P.
