I have an Athlon 600 and before yesterday I had a 235 watts PSU the system kept re-booting its self before it reached Windows 98 se. AMD recomend at least 300 watts PSU....could I have damaged something in the PC by having too little power? I have just changed it for a Antec PP-303X 300 watts PSU and it is still re-booting its self...has the damage already been done! Anyone please I'm stuck and dont know what is happening!!

pull out all the card but the video, and all your fans and just one drive to boot winblows off of. If it still keeps rebooting them something is obviously wrong. check to make sure that all the power connections are in right and all the way, check to make sure the power switch is not messed up, then try reseating your memory, the vid card, and your CPU.

Its ok I think the problem was that I had left the SPD setting for the RAM in the BIOS off!!! Ohoopy

Do you know that if you have too little power if you can damage the PC...thank for getting back :))

um, chances are no. but just because it cannot damage your PC does not mean it is good.

and lots of people are running athlon systems with lower than 300 W PSes.

I know...you buy a cheap CPU like the Athlon and you get a F**king nightmare!!!! AMD will tell you its because they are fast CPUs well that is bollocks...Intels don't use as much power as AMDs Athlon..sorry something needs to be done about AMDs slacking....they get in my tits!!!
