Lacie Firewire DVD +/- RW drive not working after reboot

I just got a firewire external dvd +/- RW drive and it worked fine when I first used it but when I rebooted my computer (leaving the drive turned on) the drive doesn't work. Windows (XP SP2) still says the drive is there but anytime I try to put a disc in it doesn't read. However, once I turn the drive off/on (and windows re-detects it) it works like a charm. Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks

Sounds like it's probably a firmware/driver issue. Honestly, the easiest thing is probably to not reboot your system as often, or just power-cycle the drive at the same time. You might see if there is a new firmware available for the drive that might fix it.

Do other devices behave similarly? Maybe the problem is the FW port, not the drive. If so, a new BIOS/chipset driver (if it's onboard) or a new driver (if it's a PCI firewire board) might help.

thats what i thought..
i'll look into it, my board is DFI NF4 Ultra-D and I have the latest driver, but I haven't looked into the Lacie angle of it yet. I will tonight, thanks.
