LaCie External CDRWs...Any Good?

Hey guys. I'm considering the purchase of a LaCie 32x CDRW. You can see the rest of the specs here. It has everything you could want, including FireWire (the port I'm using), USB 2.0, as well as USB 1.1. I've never used LaCie products before, but I remember seeing some portable HDDs in the data room at my High School. The drive has great specs and seems to be very high quality, but I'm looking for any input from anyone who has used their portable products before. I plan to hook this up to a laptop with a 4 pin to 6 pin cable.
