any chance that lacie case just doesn't have multiple HD's from a major manufacturer in it?

Thats what I assumed too, all it says is 7200rpm and 8mb cache

I have never heard of Lacie. Either it's unknown or one of those high end specialized companies.

They are the biggest external HDD manafacturers.

I thought it was 2x 500gb's as well.

lacie has been around forever doing external storage... marketed quite a bit to digital video guys, though they've probably expanded since they. used to have tons of ads in mac magazines

Lacie makes some OK stuff, mostly external drives. That is most probably 250GBx4.

Hmm, your probably right looking at the dimensions (6.3 x 3.4 x 10.6 in)

That's the first conclusion I came to, especially after looking at the pic next to a camcorder.

4x the chance of failing! w00t! (well, if its RAID1... what do you think? or just all 4 formatted as one volume?)

plus, lacie would've been getting more publicity for this disk if it was a new technology that surpassed all others by 300%.

the 500Gb is $599 at the apple store.
so the 1Tb would be 900-1000 i'd guess.

i wonder if they do something special so it appears as one hard drive to the computer?
and would doing this increase the chance of data loss? ie. if one drives fails can the others still be seen?

Since LaCie is up on the board.

Are their big blue monitors worth the bucks. (19-21)

I have been eye balling them on Ebay. On average they cost more
than Viewsonic or NEC. Are they really hi-quality?

Their monitors are supposedly one of the best for color quality, I myself would never pay that much money for one though.

I personally didn't know you could strap 2 or 3 hdd's together in a external enclosure, I have no idea how they would should up in your my computer/finder. I assume as one.
