Question LaCie 5big Thunderbolt 2 - largest drives that actually work?

LaCie's list of supported drives for the 5big TB2 tops out at 8TB per drive. Do you know if larger drives might work reliably? LaCie's list includes only Seagate drives, and I've had a pair of 4TB HGST drives working just fine for years as a RAID 0 that are backed up to a single 8TB Seagate drive that's not on the list in my 5big, so I'm not convinced LaCie's list is actually definitive. I configure the 5big via Apple's Disk Utility rather than LaCie's RAID Manager. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
