Label printer thats stand alone networked?

Go to Dymo's website, www.dymo.com, and look at their label printers.

Should be able to be set up on a network and can also use it stand alone.

I think he meant the printer having an integrated ethernet control card when asking for "stand alone", as such no host print server computer needs to be online during network prints. In that case, I think you'll find it more economical to buy a separate ethernet printer port and just use it with any printer you're interested in.

Thats what I was thinking but say for an external Jetdirect I don't have a server to assign an IP adress to that device and use static addys for the PC's I don't think Jetadmin can jump out of its subnet to assign an addyand I don't have control of that server they do log into anyway. I was hoping for a printer that I could manually put in an IP addy or use a netbios share name

Just get any usb/parallel label printer and hook it up via a little print server dongle. I doubt there are many label-only printers w/ built-in lan, but it's likely cheaper to go the separate route anyway. Manufacturers seem to charge $100 or more extra for a networking feature, so it's cheaper to just spend around 50 for an external adaptor.
