Something in LA that's close to all the action...can't stand having a roommate so i need to move somewhere and hopefully pay no more than $1,100 a month. Any suggestions?

i USED to live in ktown. where are you looking?

you REALLY need to check out the neighborhood of the apartment, some of the rat holes exist in ktown. i lived near third and vermont, but closer over towards the park. there are some nicer buildings out in that direction (and some freakishly expensive ones!) i only wanted to live between 3rd and 6th and right now i can't remember the north/south streets i would live between.

10 years ago i would have asked if you wanted to get shot, but i guess now ktown is chic.

5 years? overestimation.

anyway, check out the new J-town apartments. one is called Savory and the other is Hirika or something like that. Last time I checked online (i can't find it again) is 1200 for a studio. Very pricey imo, but it's a nice area since its next to all freeways.

Manna is wack. Try Gui Rim (6th between manhattan and western)

15 bucks all-you-can-eat ?

Yes. Charcoal cook vs the nasty gas cook.

I'm just trying to find something affordable...prices on the westside are ridiculous, plus i like the close proximity of K-Town to downtown, pasadena, etc. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Are you Korean? Or does Korea town no longer mean that Koreans live there?

Or do you just have the yellow fever?

anyways, when i lived in ktown, my one bedroom was 1250. not sure if that is in your range. my friends are living in a one bedroom now for 1300 i think, but we're picky with our buildings. i know the fancy schmancy place across the street wanted 1500 for a one bedroom.

Wow i guess i'm gonna have to find something mucho ghetto. I'm a big guy with big things, so my main concern is 1. structure/utilities 2. space.

Sorry I can't help, but I'm moving to south central next month. $700/month for a 1BD/1BA, as long as I don't walk around alone by myself at night I should be just fine. Good luck in your housing search!

it was a decent place - i was renting it from the owner (it was a condo) and he didn't raise the rent the two years i was there, plus we had 2 parking spaces so we were content. the street didn't look ktown ghetto and there was actually street parking. it was VERY close to southwestern law school.

Thanks for all the wisdom. Anymore insight? Are there any hidden gems in LA that i don't know about? I never thought it would be so difficult finding a place to live. Landlords haven't been returning my calls and websites haven't been too helpful. I'm leaning towards taking a few days off of work to drive around and visit buildings and meet with landlords/managers in person.
