LA 5 Freeway closed, need alternate route

Anyone in LA know of a good way to get around that giant nightmare where the 5 is closed down that doesn't involve taking the 101N straight to SF?

If you feel like a massive detour, go towards Riverside on 60E, 215N, 138W, 14N, (Pay good attention to signs here, 14/138 join together and you have to make some turns to keep on the highway) then you can get to 5N again at about Lebec.

Double check that. The section that is closed is the "alternate truck route" tunnel. You'll be OK doing the normal Grapevine into LA thing. The trucks that take the bypass will be with you, but the raod is open.

Happy motoring.

Edit: Sorry, just realized your heading from LA to SF. You'll still be OK. That said, the 101 ain't that bad.

LOL, forget it I'll just take the 101 North all the way up.

Good idea.

EDIT:

NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC IS REDUCED TO 2 LANES AT THE JCT OF SR 14
/IN LOS ANGELES/ (LOS ANGELES CO) - DUE TO AN ACCIDENT

So it looks like you could go north on I5. The traffic would probably suck though.

The part in Orange County/Buena Park? IIRC it's only closed from 12am - 4 am.

Wait so I CAN take the 5 North then? I'm gonna be connecting from the 210 W. Is there gonna be a ton of traffic though by tomorrow round noon?

What's wrong with the 101? It's only an 30-40 extra miles or so..

it's an extra like 3 hours though

actually it's only an hour more, but it's not more fun. at least on i-5 you can blaze through (except in kern county.)

i think i'd enjoy taking 101 if i had time to stop and look at the missions along the way. otherwise, it's so NOT scenic.
