I was a huge L4D1 fan, and preordered 2 even tho it was premature and then found out I didn't like the new maps or the new infected and didn't care about the melee.

I uninstalled 2 in protest for all this (basically pulling so many away from L4D1 which is a superior game), and played KF for the last few years.

What has happened with L4D2's maps they ported from 1? Are they identical in gameplay, as in, do they have the L4D2 infected or stick to how it was in the 1st? If it's the latter I'll probably reinstall but only if no maps are missing and the new crappy infected are out..

They have the new infected and weapons. I prefer L4D 1 too.

I find playing L4D2 with the L4D maps is the best way to play those games. Better gameplay with good maps. L4D2 maps suck IMO. I hate Parish.

That's bad news. I paid full retail for both but wish I'd never bought 2.
Had it been an add-on, even a $60 add-on, I would've been OK with it because it wouldn't have split the community. Now L4D1 is basically dead, but I still find there's more than enough people for a game, and thankfully they aren't all pros.

L4D2 maps are trash I agree. Maps, weapons, infected, I find nothing redeemable for L4D2.. the only thing it did in my mind was pull people away from a better game far too close to it's own release.

I think Valve tried to make up for it by porting the old maps but that wasn't the only issue and it ruined L4D1 which was basically perfected. I wish they'd left the old maps with L4D1 and gave the L4D2 diehards what they want- something other than L4D1! It would've prevented people from just playing the first game's maps within 2 at all.

L4D still has a fairly active player base, I never wait fore then a minute or two max to play a game (campaign or Vs, sorry dont play other gametypes in L4D). I don't have a problem with l4d2 and enjoy the maps (except cold stream, single path with no exploring is boring) i did dislike melee at first as it made the common infected trivial.. but you play advanced or higher with pub games.. the excitement is there.. mostly due to foolish players.. but fun is fun.. maybe Lfd3 will bring you back

I would say your in the minority.. stats show there have been far more players in L4D2 (new and otherwise) then L4D

ya want a gripe.. both games can be won solo in hardest setting simple if you just rush map. The AI needs to be changed to combat rushers.. (common infected need some change, what I don't know) VS is flat boring with rushers..

Solo is easy because your AI teammates can shoot through you with no friendly fire concerns. It's a lot harder when you play with friends because you can hurt each other.

Heh, The Parish is my favourite map in the entire game. ^_^

no doubt.. even with good players expert can be brutal with just one FF incident. I just found it amazing, I played quite a bit solo (with bots) before i jumped into pub matches. I was never fast, just kept moving and kept bots close.. and found advanced a challenge (with bots) and expert 100% no way.. I watched a couple of youtube runs on expert (solo with bots) as i couldn't figure out how they could do it. While i don't claim to be great, im not bad, so had to see how it was done.. it wasn't anybody with more skill, just super fast was key. Tried it a few times to get my "expert" achievement was not hard at all.

now if i could just get my 'leave a safe room and defib a dead player in vs" i would have um all..

l4d/l4d2 still play both almost daily at least one set of maps, still enjoy the games.
