L4D - Why can't I get the hunter to crouch????

Title says it all. I am unable to get the hunter to crouch in order to make him (it) jump.
(crouching works with every other character)

My config file shows that the crouch (+duck) key is bound, so am I doing something wrong?? Is this a PEBKAC error?

... the duck button, i think ur doing it right, but before it can jump it takes about a second to charge up. and the left mouse button is the jump not the regular jump. hope that help.

ur jump meter has to be recharged.

Crouch (which does take a second or two to charge up) + fire (left click), & you should be launching yourself.

If the survivor is meleeing in your direction at the exact time you are hitting them, then you will just bounce back stunned though.

When I hit the crouch button nothing happens, no crouch. That's the problem, I know to hit the "fire" button to jump after crouching, but it just doesn't crouch.

Try resetting everything to default. Just sounds like it's a problem that you mistakenly didn something to affect it.

Is your crouch key bound to something else also?
