Left 4 dead is one of the best games I have played in a while. Playing with my roomates on EXPERT, it is a blast. Levels are different every time and it hasn't gotten repetitive yet. It is very much reccomended if you enjoy co-op lanning.

Hopefully this game is a wakeup call to other developers that people actually LIKE co-op gaming on the PC.

Because it just came out and it happens with every new popular game. I suspect if you liked the game you wouldn't be so irritated by it.

Have you seen how many people play CS:S zombie mod? Its total shit! And we still play it!

Get it off Steam and you won't have to give EA one cent. EA is the retail distributor.

EA is just the publisher - they just make the physical DVD and packaging. Valve is getting the money.

Yeah ive ditched the zombie games on garrys mod. Most of the time you would be trapped in a room with about 20 other people shooting at helpless zombies down 1 corridor, or moving furniture about to make a cade, sim ikea or something.

Ah, I assumed that it had the securom deluxe that EA has stated that they will put on every game they put out.

Checked it out and the only DRM is Steam itself. Normally I don't buy games from steam because I can't reinstall them without the internet but L4D only appeals to me as a multiplayer game so I have to have a internet connection anyway if I want to play it.

Guess I'll be getting it then.

My buddies and I LANed up HL2 with the co-op mod and we all had a blast. I can stomach the $60 for L4D but don't know if all my buddies can yet so we'll probably have to wait til it's around $30 or so.

L4D is amazing. I haven't had as much cooperative fun since the Warcraft 3 community started making some sweet coop maps (use map settings)

I got it on Steam

Its already on Amazon for $40 with free shipping, from the hot deals forum.

I agree...$50 is a little steep for the masses and what the game has. That said, I'll pay that.

What good would that do you if you didn't have a way to contact steam if your internet is down? You wouldn't be able to play it without first authenticating with steam....or am i wrong?

I had the best time (*when I wasnt at a lan event) ever last night playing this game. I met up with 3 other buddies who I used to play CS with and we went through every level on advanced and had a blast. I didnt realize how many beers I had while playing until my head hurt this morning, but we went from 6pm pst to 1am without blinking.

I cant wait for more maps, but i see more game playing today.

L4D expert difficulty + 4 friends = amazing. We spent 4-5 hours playing through the third section "sewers" of no mercy today, finally beat it, just barely. At the end we were at the bottom of the ladder underneath the hospital, we throw up our last pipe bomb and all scurry up, all of us at very low hp, two of us at 1 hp and hardly walking. We get up just as the pipe blows up killing a majority of the zombies, and we pick them off as we make our way to the safe room. Then, a swarm comes, I go down and one other, the other two are running to the safe room and shooting back, then the third guy drops and our last guy is still running and shooting his shotgun back at the swarm that's surrounding our bodies. He just made it in and closed the door, and 4-5 hours of practice and fun was rewarded. Onto the hospital!

my buddies and I almost beat No Mercy on expert today, but I got jumped by a hunter as I was limping to the helicopter. :( I was the only one left. Took us about 4 hours of playing to get there from the Apartments.

4-5 hours per "movie" on expert is about right. Beaten all the parts of No Mercy now with extensive replaying of various sections...finally got to the point where I'd played all of the campaign. On to Blood Harvest next...God this game is a blast when you get good teammates. When you have four people really focused on strategy, tactics, supply management, it clicks.

Maybe I should be playing with you then, cus the people I play with tend to drag me down imo, hence the 4-5 hour mission. I find myself a very competitive gamer, I play to win. In supcom for example I was 20-2 and I beat players in the top 100 in custom games, and in WoW I went from a nub guild wiping on mc bosses to the top horde guild in NA in a pretty reasonable time frame.

In L4D I play with my little brother, a rl friend, and a french guy from quebec. They are constantly doing stupid shit, my friend molotov'd our whole team when we were near end of sewers, otherwise we likely would of had it that attempt, instead we played on for 1-2 more hours.
