Yep. I see people on all the time. Was in a helluva good game last night in fact.

I switch back and forth between L4D, LFD2, World at War and Shattered Horizon on a regular basis.

I have both and I cannot see myself going back to the first when the second is soooo much better.

Yes, there's plenty of people still playing the original, all my friends who did not buy LD42 still play the original as much as they did, and one of them who owns both still occasionally goes back to the original to play with his friends and we all have fun as much as it was before, not much has changed, and with such a price it will just contribute to add more players for it.

I bought this game when it first game out cause the demo was good so I thought the "full" game would be much better.

Alas the demo is as full as this game gets. If you've played it for 10 mins, you've nothing new to see.

7.50 should have been it's release price! haha

A friend asked this on Friday, so I checked the Steam stats. There was a peak of about 7,500 players that day, so I'd say yes.

I wish I had waited until it was 7.50 instead of paying 22 dollars. Dont feel like I got my money's worth.
Even less so that they had a sequel so soon.

Yeah, pretty obvious reasons why they are doing that. Trying to squeeze every penny out of people.. IMHO, youd have to be pretty "slow" to buy an old game that is going to die off cause of its predecessor. Put the $8 towards L4D2 heh.

Im sure many are still playing it now, but give it time, I am sure it will slowly be dying off. Just my opinion... I just dont see the point of buying an old game.

(I have not bought the second one yet, but everyone seems to say its much better)

It still has an awesome single player campaign that is well worth $7.

It's a good game; it was worth the $30+ I paid for it when it came out, and I'm sure there will be a sizable community for the next few years at least. Plus, it only takes 4 (or 8) players for a full game, so just invite a few of your friends and you're set.

I did get tired of it after a while, but the for the first month or so this game had me more immersed than any other game ever has. There was so much tension and suspense, it had my heart beating like crazy. Definitely worth the money, and for $7.50 it's a steal.

I thought there might be more ppl playing l4d1 over the holidays. Searching lobbies to join and it was very slow to get games going.

It's easily worth $7.50, and it's not as though you need a 32-man server to have fun. All you need is 3 other people to play a campaign, and 7 for Versus. Hell, you could do either with less people, too!

I never have played L4D. I wish I would have known about the deal sooner. By the time I saw this thread last night the deal was over. Maybe I can pick up a bundled version I & 2 somewhere if they make one? If anyone sees such a thing please shout it out.

You can pick up L4D2 for 29.99 @ Amazon.com right now. I would recommend that you get it before they take it away mid day.

Well, I mean, if they are selling L4D1 for $7.50 and L4D2 for $30, thats $37.50 for both games.(before shipping & tax)

Im not sure youll find a bundle deal anytime soon that is cheaper than that.

As soon as I saw the topic of the thread I went to go buy it since I have been waiting for it to hit a great price but it seems it is already back up to $30. :(

I still enjoy playing the campaign on expert. i'm pretty bored with the rest of the multiplayer stuff.

I'll be playing tomorrow, but I'm switching to L4D2 when I get it for Christmas. It's a very good game though, and still has a big community AFAIK.

The community for L4D1 wasn't big at all. They released the SDK very late and then since they released 2 already, not much was made for 1. I'm sure there will be a much larger community for 2 since I'm sure Valve isn't making part 3 yet.

If you haven't bought L4D1, I wouldn't waste the money. Unless you are buying it for the campgaigns, L4D2 has everything L4D1 has except the character skins (zoey, bill, louis, and francis). The L4D1 population is low, and you will find matches in L4D2 much easier.

I still play L4D quite often. L4D2 looked too similar to the original to justify full price for it. Now that it's on sale at a lot of places for $30 I may switch over, but not necessarily.
