L4D 2?

It's an older game, but does anyone here play it?

Seems fun. My gripe with the game is it's too hectic. I guess the devs intended it to be that way. I've tried a few of the mods that slow the game down. They seem OK. I'd like to see a L4D 3. Doubt it though.

It's only hectic if you're playing against a good team. I've been wanting to play it casually again, but I can't shake the feeling it will end up the same way when I played it competitively.

As far as L4D3, you're asking Valve to count higher than 2.

Great game to play with friends, PUB games used to be ok but not anymore, to toxic for sure.

Ive easily logged 2k+ hours, likely my most played PC game ever.

Can be very fun with friends in cooperation, even just two friends with A.I. bots to help a bit doing the campaign is fun enough for me. However, without friends it's the type of game that in my opinion loses almost all its value, not only due to online 'toxicity' versus other strangers, but simply because even playing alone versus bots ain't really much fun anyway. I had tons of fun in cooperation with friends with the first L4D, which I largely preferred over L4D2 initially. Then later on they added the L4D1 maps (and characters) for L4D2 and it made it better. I still prefer the campaign from L4D1 mostly due to the atmosphere in general but also because of the original characters being more memorable for me.

I play all the time. The only rule I have is to never play a pub game on expert, it's a waste of time.
It's not to hectic once you pick up two or three simple tactics.

Valve is making retarded money with Steam and downloadable crap for Team Fortress and Counterstrike and I think DOTA as well.

They have no interest in working hard on big single player games.

Oh, and I think Vermintide is way better than either Left 4 Dead. You can craft and upgrade in between missions and theres 5 characters which are all different.

Some screenshot in interviews with Valve showed some LFD3 stuff (trick? or legit, seems to be the question) and it was over a year ago it was noticed ... LFD when played with a good group is a damn fun game. But to many FPS are all "you vs all" and LFD doesn't play well like that, the battle Royal games are HOT and to many want to play co-op games like that. I still play a game or two almost every day, its actually a challenge now as nobody plays to support each other. Frustration can be an issue, but its still quite fun.

Vermintide was mentioned (like it quite a bit too) but the TOXIC player base in LFD was mentioned, not much different in V.. Joining Vermintide now means you get left behind almost every game as you dont know the maps like back of your hand, and any exploring at all is instant death as rest of team has picked map clean and is way ahead of you. cant get an ITEM as 99% of the player base it just running a match to farm, they couldn't give a shit less if you make it or not. But i agree at this point its a better game, maybe not design wise but its newer then LFD2, and has a few new tricks up its sleeve that makes it seem a bit fresher. Isn't there a V2 comming out soon too?

Yeah if the player base is the same in all games then you gotta look at gameplay itself.

Vermintide has leveling and item crafting and unique characters so it makes sense to keep playing over and over. Theres something to look forward to.

Same reason CS:GO is more popular than most shooters. You can unlock tons of loot. I dont care much for it, but many people seem to like the system.

I still play L4D2 fequently, ive never really noticed any toxicity in the playerbase, though I dont use a headset or pay attention to the chat very much. I mostly just do the regular missions and not any PvP.

Not played it in ages, they have a piece of AI code running on the server that keeps an eye on how overwhelmed each player is and basically throws the right number of zombies at you to keep you on the edge, and then give you a bit of a break which is why it's so stressful.

It's a horrible game to play with pubs, you need a group of friends for a reliably good experience. I found the lack of maps the weak point in the game quite frankly, coop really needs a plethora of content to cycle through so you don't get bored fast and the L4D games are very stingy in that regard I think. Lead us to stop playing it quite fast.

Oh and I think people had found references to L4D3 in code released in source engine updates in the past, so at the very least they're toying with the idea, we'll probably see a 3rd at some point.

I play single player and like it. Yea, playing online is better but I enjoy playing with the bots. They do a decent job.

The one thing I don't like is they don't throw boms. Would it be too difficult to code that into the game?

How about they should come up with a patch in which new characters and story should be there?
You're asking for expansion/DLC/sequel content to be given to us in a patch... This is Valve we're talking about, not Re-Logic.

For the most-part yes. Pipe bombs, bile, and molotovs are situational items and I really don't want to see bots steal all the items and immediately throw them at the first zombie they see. For items like pills and health packs, the bots are coded to use pills in the yellow and health kits in the red. You can't code something like "throw pipe bombs for boomers" because then you're basically giving the AI hacks since the code would immediately detect a boomer spawning and the bots would start throwing pipe bombs.

With that being said, I still stick to my original claim that I don't want the bots stealing anymore than they already do. I love the mutation Last Man on Earth for this reason alone.

good points.

Scavenge mode was brilliant. Then it completely died less than a month after launch. That's the competitive mode everyone should have been playing. Normal level progression is boring.

Played tons of L4D1. Really disliked L4D2 when it first came out because it was no longer dark and moody, it just did not feel like a zombie apocalypse. At this point L4D1 feels just too old and boring with just 3 weapons. L4D2 has more interesting weapons, but unless you have friends you can play with it's an absolute shit show - you have outright griefers, or sneaky trolls who "accidentally" light up gas cans on "Dead Center" or "Parish" as you're trying to fill up car/generator, you have idiots who pay no attention that you're smoked, you have loners who will just rush ahead. I like coop games, but pub games are an exercise in aggravation.

New expansion would be great they should surely come up with something new if they want people to continue playing this game.

L4D3 should be a no brainer like Half Life 3... It is mega weird that Valve dont wanna cash in on it.

I was heavily into L4D1/2 as well but it was when the 10vs10 mods came out it got REAL fun.. damn I have wasted many hours both as infected and survivor trying to hold the team together.. Fun times.

Valve is making too much money off skin packs for DoTA 2. They could care less about their original games.

It's more along the lines that the original developers for these series have left Valve and nobody who currently works there wants to take on those projects. L4D2 wasn't as big of a hit as people make it out to be. Sure it sold a lot of copies, but it didn't hold the public's attention like DoTA 2 and CS:GO.
