L2 cache drops to 64k when I use my pelt, why?

I've got an XP2000+ and an Abit KR7A mobo. I recently installed a 220w pelt and the temps range from about -15c idle to 10c full load. For some reason the L2 cache drops to 64k whenever the temps go near or below freezing. When I run it at higher temps, it's back at 256k. Any explanation? Thanks.

running a comercial cpu at freezing is not a good idea-these were engineered for above room temp,it would be better to rig up a varible resistor to that peltier and have it on max R untill the cpu warms up then turn down the R for max cooling effect
as too your problem-I am not expert but I would think that some of the traces(or wires to the pins) are shrinking because of the cold when you first power up and not making good contact if so the above suggestion will work -also the wires could break because of the contraction and rapid expansion so be wary
I could be totally wrong though but thats what my first thought is

I had similar thoughts too. Another thought... Do you think it could have anything to do w/ the ondie thermal sensor?
Thanks
