My mobo just died, and don't want to replace my old s939 board with a new one that has aprox the same performance (referring to AM2 boards as the socket is the same bandwidth wise as it has the same number of pins 939vs940).

I also don't want to sell my firstborn to get this system running. If I have to i guess it'll come to that, but i'd like alternatives.

I found an Athlon FX-70 for $305 here.
The motherboard for $350 here.
ANd an Opteron 2210(WOF) for $200 from here.

So can I go with the $100 cheaper Opty, or do I gotta shell out the extra dough for the FX?

I'm only gonna grab one cpu at this point, and maybe a Quad when they come out for a 6core system, or maybe replace both fort an 8core system. Who knows....time can only tell.
