So they'll exercise by walking across the street to the local gas station and buy a pop there. Waste of time politically correct measure.

It's understandable, all that sugar and caffeine CANT help when trying to learn. Private school's have been doing this for some time now.

I think that most (if not all) LA unified schools have a closed campus. So if you want to get food during the school day you're limited to what's sold on campus. I guess you can just bring a soda with you to school in the morning, but it's not going to be as convenient and a lot of people will just end up buying juice or whatever else is being sold.

God knows if I didn't get my caffeine during the day I would have been out like a lamp during class. With school and a job, 4 hours of sleep didn't bode well through the day.

Makes no sense. They still allow fruit juices which have just as much, if not more, calories.

yeah the fruit juices are jsut as bad. since they arent really fruit juice and have tons of artifical sweeteners and preservatives.

Stupid government agencies... if they ever did a smart thing, i dont think i could call them the government anymore, since it'd defy the definition.

I never thought I would see the day when sodas were allowed in school. When I went to school your drink choices were water from the water fountain or those little 1/2 pint milks at lunch.

I don't get it. I don't get fat when drinking a lot of coke everyday. Thank god i am not in school anymore either. I guess i am impossible no matter what i eat. Schools are getting bad anyway and nasty. Heck just walking outside for lunch you hear every curse word in the book. Its crazy.

I can't believe I used to complain about the quality of the food I was getting for $1.00
Now that I'm "old" I wish I could get a meal like that for $1.00!!!!!!!

The state of Texas bans the sale of all junk food on its school campuses during lunch time.
when the hell did that happen? we had 5 "snack bar" lines and 3 hot lunch lines at james e taylor in katy. maybe i'll ask my roommate's little brother, he just graduated.

I know of at least one high school that had an open campus; the one I went to. For the most part ppl just left to go buy stuff at the liquor store etc. and the most hassle they ever got from police was to go back to school.

But yeah, its stpuid to ban sodas IMHO. The schools get a nice chunk of change from sales and the students stay awake. Am I missing something here? Sure they're not healthy, but some of school lunches I've seen certainly didn't look healthy to me.

diet sodas are probably worse... all those chemicals..
What you mean aspartame? You believe that propoganda? I'd sooner take injections of the stuff rather than down pounds of pure sugar every year...
