But they do. They pay the majority of federal taxes which helps those that arent rich. I never suggested their taxes dont affect anything. What said was their wealth doesnt negatively affect anything. Theres a difference.
No, we were not talking about wealth, we were talking about taxes.

Also, I noticed you said ‘federal income taxes’ because if you count ALL taxes then all Americans pay about the same. This is why before I told you that the idea some people don’t pay taxes is nonsense.

Who cares? They still pay the majority of taxes.
That tends to happen to people who buy govt policy to give them the majority of the wealth.

Let's try an exercise. Suppose a business moves into your town because the local leaders give them subsidies and tax breaks. Existing local businesses, who did not get such breaks, can't compete and are forced out of business or see their revenues plummet. The new business, with all its competitors crippled, now pays the majority of the local taxes.
Still sound fair?

This has been happening for at least 30 years. Its nothing new. Bottom line, the wealth pay the highest percentage and dollar amount of federal takes. The only fair tax rate is a flat tax.

Reminder: we're now on the 4th page of discussing rich vs poor tax policy in a thread about Sinema switching declarations ;) :p

@blackangst1 i bet you genuinely did not know this but it’s true. The rich and the poor pay broadly the same percent of their income in taxes.

Does this change your idea on tax policy?
Thats not true AT ALL. Show me a link.

Which is never going to happen.

Sinema’s signature issue was not increasing taxes on the rich.
Yeah I know the discussion got started over the carried interest loophole she voted to keep, I just realized how long the sidetrack got and laughed to myself

lol I already showed you a link that you clearly did not read.

Your gif is federal income taxes only and I think we would both agree that your wallet does not care as to if you’re paying the federal government or some other government.

If you want to not read it again here’s the graph of total income as compared to total taxes.

Which shows the top 1% paying the most.

@blackangst1 I hope you can admit you’re wrong here because it’s not even close.
I hope you can admit youre an idiot.

Anyway back on topic. I dont support getting rid of the wealthy's loopholes. Insomuch as I dont support the middle class loopholes like child deductions. Or mortgage deductions.

You often complain about people talking shit instead of arguing with data, and I agree with you.

I showed you were wrong, and instead of embracing what you ask for you’re talking shit. Just admit you were wrong and move on because that’s what people do in respectful debate.

What exactly was I wrong about? That the rich pay the majority of taxes?

I said they paid taxes approximately in line with their share of national income.

You said I was insane.

Do you want to reconsider?

And Im trying to understand why thats bad.

edit: And Im trying to show the wealthy pay the majority of federal taxes, and compared to other income groups pay the highest amount. Why is that bad?

That is not what you argued.

To me why that is bad is simple because of marginal value. That’s different than you claiming that the rich are somehow taxed in excess of the rest of Americans, which is false.
