Well let me update my post. The Radeon is flunking running Unreal 1. The Kyro ran it quite nicely. But I don't think I have it setup correctly. Over at Digit_life they were able to run Unreal 1, and it ran very fast. And as for benchmarks I said the Kyro benched faster. But it was only a few frames and totally unnoticeable during actual gameplay. DVD playback is absolutely banging on the Radeon. Of course I knew that would be nice because I have Expert 2000 in my daughters PC. The colors are so rich and vibrant on the Radeon. I used Power DVD 3.0. The Radeon has no equal at all when it comes to DVD playback. The Radeon is still smoooth as silk in Q3. I liked the Kyro II and might go with that one on a permanent basis. But as for quality and a better overall experience I have to say the Radeon is few steps ahead of the Kyro II. The one thing that truly bothered me about the Kyro was when you enabled anistropic filtering, the Kyro struggled majorly. And for the video in and out which I haven't tried on the Radeon is also a extra bonus as well. So far the Radeon is ahead in my decision for a video card, but the Kyro is an extremely nice card for the price. But the Radeon is a decent price as well now.

Its not just settings, my Radeon is very much so less than adequate on UT performance and I have twinked the living heck out of it. Its actually why I am leaving my Radeon. UT performance and some wierd quirks in games like Rogue Spear and others.

The DVD playback is good but I honestly dont notice the difference between DVD playback on my Radeon and DVD playback on my Voodoo III in a backup 333 Celeron system. Both play flawlessly without any dropped frames.

I will admit the Q3 performance is great. Alice and games based on the Quake III engine run flawless. But there is more to life than Q3 and unfortunatly my Radeon lacks in quite a other games (Crimson Skies, All UT based games, Rogue Spear with current drivers, strange lockups on some game starts, Anarchy Online, etc.

I am going to purchase a Kyro II 4500 with my new system. I will post details and my thoughts when it arrives as a comparison with numbers.

^_^ dang didnt know so many ppl played Q3 and UT still..

I havent even touched those games since the CS took me over.. and then i got some new model/skins for half of CS guns... drool... ( try the colt skin.. it look very real and nice!).

with my setup it stays above 55 fps most of time.

but that kyro sure does look interesting. wonder what my next card will be, i usually dont upgrade for a long time until the card takes it to "next step".

my first one was... hmm some trident card then to SIS636(maybe different number) agp, then Velocity4400 TNT1 then Radeon.so probably my next one will have to be the next step up.

Maybe Geforce4? or Radeon3? ^_^
