The Kyro II is just as "future proof" as any Geforce 2, because it has zero overdraw which benifits it for speed just as well, if not better than T&L. Kyros are at LEAST as fast as a Geforce 2 GTS, and occasionally a Pro at resolutions that matter, such as 1024-768, and no other card quite handles 32bit color as well for speed as a Kyro II. Any incompatabilities you may have heard of are most likely solved with the newest drivers..and don't anyone try to give me BS about that statement, because I remember the day when you NEEDED to update drivers every week with any Nvidia card just to make it run. the Kyro also does FSAA better than most anything on the market.
Here's the deal. If ya want a cheap card that runs anything at 60fps or better@10x7@32bit with at least medium quality, and maybe anti-alias a bit on some games, the Kyro's the best thing since sliced bread. On the other hand, if you want the absolute fastest graphics in the world, and MUST have the newest possible effects, get a Geforce 3. But I warn you...with the money you spend on a GF3 right now, you could prolly get a Kyro II now, and later upgrade to a possibly/most likely faster Kyro III this Christmas. Hey, two cards for the price of one, and one of the two is faster???! Oh yeah...
