<< VR-Zone has posted some info about the KYRO II Ultra and III chips. STMicroelectronics Kyro II Ultra chip aka STG4800 is still currently under developement and slated to release by this year end. Other than the clock speed, the specs of the STG4800 is the same as the normal KYRO II aka STG4500. The clock speed will be above 200Mhz instead of 200Mhz initially thought but how high above 200Mhz is still not confirmed yet. >>

above 200mhz.. cool, I just hope it offers some real world performance increase with this upgrade in clock speed.. unfortunately, no DX8 capable T&L unit throws this card out the window for me when it comes to upgrading (I already have a Radeon 32 meg DDR)..

I'm looking forward to Kyro III or whatever they end up calling it. Unfortunately, I probably will not end up buying it due to lack of drivers for Linux..

yeah, would have been better off working on the 3 instead of the 2U. ah well, at this rate it will still be out before radeon 8500.

Well, I wouldn't be so sure. This isn't nVidia we're talking about, with hyped Core clocks, that need very high mem bandy. IMHO KII is being limited by it's core clock, and look KII isn't even using DDR yet, so it may need to incorporate DDR on to Cards, but I think KIIU will be a good card. Probably putting it between GF3Ti200 and GF2 Pro, probably ahead of R7500.

I have had pretty good luck with Kyro driver support. Not as nice in some ways as Nvidia, but still way ahead of ATI.
