Is the Prophet 4500 vid card the best you can get for UT?
Does it even beat the geforce 2 ultra's & gforce 3's?
Can someone tell me a bit about this chipset & what one is the best to get for UT.

I dont play a LOT of UT, but I get super super smooth with all details on and 1024*768*32 with my Kyro2. I am not sure in UT, but a geforce2 ultra/pro or a geforce3 would probably kill it.

However, unless you play UT at HIGHER than 1280*968*32 (if it even goes that high) a Kyro2 is ALL the video card you need. A geforce3 is overkill.

I am going to direct you here (Sorry Anand). This is an article that compares the Kyro II to the GeForce 2 and ATI Radeon products with some different applications. It doesn't specifically have Unreal Tournament, but they try to have different types of games to cover the different bases (OpenGL, DirectX, etc). Wherever Unreal Tournament fits in there is what you will want to look at. Overall the Kyro II has a hard time competing with the GeForce 3 and the higher end GeForce 2s. It is priced similar to a GeForce 2 MX400 and that is about where it performs.

I'll tell ya this much. The Kyro II with a ghz t-bird gets over 80fps in 1024 768@32 and around 70 with 12-- 10-- @16, for some reason I didn't test the 32bit. Is that smooth enough?

KyroII is a good card when the games work for it. I returned mine after it didnt work with Tribes2 and some other games. Latest Maximum PC says they had compatability problems also and rated the MX higher. Oh and as far as performance compaired to Ultras and Geforce3's? There is no comparison🙂
