kx133 and thunderbird slot-a question

Hey guys...i'm building a computer for a friend...i want to use a thunderbird but socket a mobo supplies and socket a chips are a joke. i want to know what the success rate would be for an 800 MHz thunderbird and either a KA7 or a K7V. all experiences are appreciated. thanks guys

There are KX133 boards that will work with the new Athlons, and hopefully others will point them out.

But if you're building a new system it seems more sensible to wait and get Socket A components. It won't be that long until they're on the market. If you already had a KX133 board it would be different. The Slot A format is really outdated at this point.

Be very careful with T/BIRD and KX133. See AMDZONE or SlotA . Some weeks of T/Birds are no go. The performance diff between Kx133 and Irongate is not that great (especially with Superbypass). I'd say if you want 100% sure stick with an Irongate board.
