Yeah. This one is SD TV but it would be a nice addition as a 2nd or dual tuner for those with MCE2005.

Neither are compatable with MCE

As far as I know, this won't work with Dish.

Received mine after Xmas and finally just got around to install it last night but I ran into a big problem:
The BeyondTV Installation CD keys on the sleeve is WRONG!
No matter how many times trying to retype different characters due to some of these are very poorly printed. Nothing worked!
I just sent Kworld tech supportan email to see what's up with it.
Anyway I went to Snapstream site and downloaded and installed the 21 days trial and bingo it instantly scanned most if not all the local OTA DTV stations via my cheap $20 antenna (Zenith).
The pict quality is very good to great, especially on 1080i or 720p. Can't wait to tape the NFL play-off this w/e.
Does any one have problem with the BeyondTV cd keys that came with the unit?

Videopho, I have the same issue and emailed K-world. They are sending me out a new Key. I installed WatchHD and other than it crashing occasionally the picture for OTA is really a treat!

Do you have Cable to test out to see if QAM works on it? How does SDTV look on it....or would it be better to get another card for that?

Both SD & HD picture looks fanstatic!
It's supposed to work with QAM or Cab/SAT but I have gotten time to try it just yet.

People, If Any Of You Are Sitting On the Side Lines, And Have Not Tried HDTV, You Are Really In For A Treat.

HDTV Rocks!

You Will Be Stunned...

Try It - You Will Like It!

Trying It First With A PC HDTV TV Tuner Card Is A Great Idea...

I've been playing around with my card a bit in Windows and linux (via MythTV/MythDora). I have the same problem that Videopho reported. The BeyondTV product key that was included with my card doesn't work. I emailed KWorld and got a response today that I should email them my product key (I haven't done this yet).

In Windows, this card supports ATSC digitial, VHF analog, and UHF analog reception. The first computer I installed the card in is running WindowsXP. I couldn't use the included BeyondTV (wrong product key) and couldn't download a working BeyondTV demo (I'm currently on dial-up), so I found a small program named WatchHDTV and tried that out. Worked well for ATSC/OTA digital with my cheap Zenith HDTV antenna. I didn't have any software available to try the analog VHF or UHF tuner in WindowsXP.

Next up, I moved the card to another PC and installed dual-boot Windows 2000 Pro and MythDora linux (a combination of Fedora linux and MythTV PVR software). Still no BeyondTV in Windows, but I was able to again use WatchHDTV to view Over-The-Air HDTV. Looks awesome! I was also able to use the VHF analog tuner with a program named AMCAP that was installed with another tuner card that I have installed (a Hauppauge Win-PVR-250). VHF analog looks good, too, but I didn't try and record anything since this card doesn't have any kind of hardware capture assist for the analog tuner.

In MythDora, I've only used the QAM tuner on this card. My cable provider transmits over cable the local channels in QAM HDTV (affiliates for ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and PBS), and they all look incredible. A couple of the channels have multiple sub-channels, and I was able to tune these in as well. I've recorded a few things via QAM, and the quality is amazing. I recorded a bit of Conan O'brien from NBC last night. Feed was 1920x1080 video, 5.1 AC3 audio. A 15m45s stream was 1.68GB in size! CPU load on the MythTV box was very low while capturing the QAM HDTV stream.

I run XBOX Media Center (XBMC) on my XBOX, and there is an available module for XBMC that allows the user to control/schedule MythTV and view recordings from MythTV. Works pretty well, but captured HDTV streams play back like a slide show. Analog MPG captures made with my Hauppauge WIN-PVR-250 play back properly.

So, from my experience, it appears that the card supports ATSC HDTV, UHF analog, and VHF analog in Windows, and supports QAM HDTV in linux. Probably also supports ATSC, UHF, and VHF in linux, but I didn't actually try these.

Nope. The Jackass from Kworld has not gotten back to me despite several emails sent.
I'll wait until Monday then call them again and perhaps give them hell.

I sent them my key via email and they sent a new one back the next day. Very quick service. I just tried the new key and it worked fine.

I finally received the CD keys from KWORLD and here is what happened.
When running the cd that came with the tuner and tried to install BeyondTV 4.1 but to no prevail.
What happened was during the installation process, and when it comes to meet the two mandates, window xp and directx 9, my rig fails one of the two, simply because it's x64 O/S window (I said to myself, oh s&*t).
Not to give up w/o a fight, I went into Snapstream site download the 4.5 (21 days) trial software and guess what?
During installation when it asks for the options, either 21 days or cd valid keys, I used the keys provided by KWORLD, bingo, successfully installed as a full blown 4.5 version that costs me virtually almost nothing to upgrade besides a few key strokes. :D
I'd recommend those who're still stuck with 4.1 BeyondTV should try what I did and get yourself a full 4.5 version for free (it's somewhere between $45 or up worth)

Bought this unit and had one night to try OTA reception before leaving on a trip (still gone). Some channels were fairly smooth, others had a lot of stuttering. Have other buyers had mostly stutter-free ATSC reception? Any tweaks required?

WinXp SP2 on MSI K8Ngm2-FID + A64 FX55 + 1GB PC3200 + 7600GS + 500GB Samsung Sata; minimized background processing. 'Feel like that should be nough processing power to do the job, but ... still stuttering.

Your rig is powerful enough to do the job.
It's the antenna, I suppose.
What do you get? Indoor or Outdoor antenna?
I use the Zenith, cheapo $19.99 enough to pull in most premium channels at smooth, buttery frame rate in HD format.

For me QAM is a must. I've got a comcast HD-DVR in the living room but it would be nice to get HD here in the computer. I live too far away to pick up OTA HD so if the card easily does QAM I'm in.

A few questions though. How easy is it to burn your saved programs to DVD? Are there settings that will allow you to capture programs in Mpeg2 with varying bitrates? Or is all of the programs captured in HD and then it's up to us to use a prog that resamples down to Mpeg2?

I'm using this card with MythTV, and it works perfectly for capturing OTA digital broadcasts. It installed out of the box with the MythDora distribution. (With KnoppMyth, you have to add one line to load the driver.) MythTV doesn't yet support the remote, however.

Am considering this but have a question. I use cable and have the high def package. If I hook cable directly to this card can I get HDTV over cable without a cable box?

Thanks

This card supposedly supports QAM. I haven't tried it, however.

See this page for details.

No QAM for this card. Confirmed by Kworld's tech support I talked to.
You need to go to the much more expensive model to get QAM.
I'd suggest go to avsforum and look for HTPC stuffs, ton of info on these.
This card basically is a steal for me by dumping off the ATI HDTV Wonder to this.
It works on my x64 O/S and get the DVR cacability for free plus the BeyondTV software for nothing.
