I have been having problems with my current Iogear kvm. It doesn't support Windows 7 computers.
Microsoft made two changes to Windows 7 that creates problems for the existing kvm switches, one related to usb support and the other problem related to video/monitor support.
After much on going research I have come up with the following that I want to share with other frustrated users.
I found a vendor solution that claims to provide full implementation of DDM (Dynamic Device Mapping) support as required by Microsoft Windows 7. So far this is the only company that professes to have solutions that support Windows 7 usb keyboard , and to also have other kvm's that provide support for Windows 7 display/dual monitors. I haven't purchased one yet but am watching to see if other vendors will come out with solutions.
www.connectpro.com
ConnectPro Master-IT PRO PR-14 KVM Switch.
This is the solution that addresses DDM support, this is a 4 computer switch, and can be purchased for less that $150. Longer cables can be purchased directly from Connectpro via their Amazon.com store.
From what I can determine this is not a keyboard emulator, but instead full passthru support for DDM usb as implemented in Windows 7.
See their website for solutions that support the Windows 7 Dual Monitor, I think they have both vga and dvi solutions.
Link to Microsoft white paper that I am sure will provide further insight
