KVM switches

I just got my eVGA 6800GT video card and wanted to know if I installed a KVM switch would it reduce performance or image quality on my PC? I read somewhere that if you run a video card through a KVM switch, it lowers the image quality. Any truth to this?

They definitely *can* noticeably degrade signal quality, but it's dependent on the quality of the KVM and the length of the cables involved, as well as the amount of electrical interference around your computer.

He's right. But notice he put *can* in *'s. What that means is don't buy a cheap KVM.

Also, if you have two systems right now, there's a good chance you'll have more down the line. (Trust me, they mulitply magically...)

Notice it comes with the cables? Very important! KVM cables are expensive and it's cheaper to buy a KVM that comes with the cables. I have the older version of this model and it rocks.

All my boxes are set to 1280 x 960 x 32-bit color. They all go thru the KVM and visually there is no difference at all. There's also no "lag" with the mouse or keyboard. No screen jitter or other visual probs either.

A good KVM will be invisible to you.
