KVM switches and laptops

Hi, I have an apple powerbook (ti 667) and an older athlon (1ghz) computer. Would a kvm switch work for my laptop? The laptop can do the multi moniter thing or it can mirror. I will be bringing my old athlon back for games and would love to use the larger monitor for other work on my laptop? Any kvm switches i should avoid? I would like to spend $50 max and only need a 2 port usb hub. (Keyboard and mouse are usb)

Thanks
