I'm looking for a cheap home KVM switch for at least two computers. The price needs to be no more than $60. I'd prefer a manual switch, but if hot key recognition is good, then that's okay too. Thanks

I've been using this one, with a USB to PS/2 adapter (for the mouse) for about 2 years, and it's never given me a single problem: link

That is the same one I use, never a problem at all...

One thing you should watch out for is additional mouse\keyboard button support. I bought some cheap generic KVM, and it works, but the extra buttons on my mouse and keyboard don't work. The keyboard isn't a big issue, but I use the side buttons on my mouse all the time, making the KVM pretty much useless. If you don't use your extra\keyboard buttons then I guess it isn't an issue, but if you do, then thats just something you should look out for.

What is it about these things that seems to make most of the crappy? Are they that hard to make? I've never used a KVM, but most of the reviews I've seen have a lot of complaints. I'd be very happy if somebody could point out a USB switch that I could use just to share a keyboard and mouse between two PCs (if such a thing exists). I'd be happy with a manual switch where I have to press a button on the box (A/B switch for USB peripherals). I don't need video since my monitor has both VGA and DVI inputs, so both PCs already share the monitor.
