KVM switch problem with dvi?

is there any known issue with using kvm switches with dvi connections?

i have an lcd i was going to share with 2 compters. both graphic cards only have dvi so i tried running vga from the monitor and using vga adapters to the cards but it fails to get a signal. it works fine on a different computer with vga only through onboard video.

its a trendnet tk-205i, windows xp home and pro, both sp2.
