KVM for MAC-PC setup

A while ago I tryed to setup my PC-Mac on This KVM and I had a major issue with the KB not working (well it did WORK, just not the way it should... ) So after swapping the KB and mouse, calling tech support and getting the KVM swapped and still having the same problem, I gave up on the idea.

Well now I want to give it another try. So I'm hoping that some of you guys can help me out.


What I need:

The KVM needs to have USB

Can't be anymore than $100 Max (around 50-60 pref.)

Only need to hookup a PC and Mac

Don't care about sound.

I have this one and it works really well. It has audio, but other than that I believe it is the same as the second one dopefiend linked.

BTW, the audio is relatively poor quality, so if you decided to go with this one keep that in mind.

I purchased two of the Belkin Omni View SOHO switches about 6-7 months and regret not returning them when I could (sharing between Macs and WinXP machines). I have had nothing but problems with them and Belkin support was horrible.

One example is their flash updater doesn't work on some systems. I tried 3 different WinXP boxes at the office and none them would update the KVM. To make matters worse, on two different update attempts the KVMs were FUBAR and had to be returned to Belkin. After the second time this happened, I was told by Belkin support that they knew about the flash updater problem (not working on some machines) but they weren't sure what the problem was and there was no estimate for a fix. The last time a returned a KVM, they were suppose to send me back a unit already updated. Which of course, they didn't.

Another problem with these units, if you are holding down a key on the keyboard, after about 4 seconds the KVM will stop the signal. The computer then reacts as if you have lifted your finger off the key.

I strongly advise staying away fromt these units.
