Why did abit choose with the kv8 series of mb to put no parallel port? I really didn't notice it until i went to connect my printer and i was like what the heck. They also didn't include any serial connectors. Now this is fine for me because i use DSL and don't use a regular modem but i wanted to use one it would suck. I can't imagine parallel ports are going to the wayside because of USB printers. Does anyone have any idea why abit choose to do it this way?

On a second note, what options do i have here? I definitly don't want to get a new MB just because of the parallel port. Other than the parallel port i have been very happy with this MB. Oh btw the printer i have is a 20ppm black & white laser printer. I will be using this machine for both windows 2003 server & linux.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

Then you can get a print server. It will connect to your network and print via ip address.
Again, for linux you can check netgear or linksys to see if their print servers are compatible with linux
