Key liberal Dennis Kucinich who originally voted against the House bill has now committed to voting for the Senate bill.

With unanimous republican opposition and 26 dems voting no, the opposition is now 12 votes short of killing the bill. IMO the odds of the opposers convincing 12 more dems to turn against the party base is slim and none. Call it done the fat lady is warming up.

Obama just reminded him that we are closer to achieving fully socialized medicine with this bill than without it.

That and a cushy ambassadorship to a tropical island. Probably.

He didn't think it wasn't right. He thought it wasn't liberal enough, and obviously still does.

MAYBE he's looking at the bigger picture.
MAYBE he's looking at the 30 million people who will finally have healthcare, and will finally be paying something into the system.
MAYBE he's looking at the hundreds of thousands of people who will no longer be denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions.

Doing something is better than doing nothing, as Repubs want to do. And spare me your "socialism" and "government takeover of health care" talk. The government run option has been stripped from the Senate bill.

Actually, Kucinich is #211 or #212.

And there are 16 who are publicly undecided.

Sorry to rain on your parade.

someone higher up threaten to send his wife to bill.

but seriously, this should not be a surprise on both sides. when a vote is needed to cover the spread, people fall in line.

Damn, no wonder he flipped.

With a hot young amazon wifey like that he needs some healthcare, she might kill him

Kucinich is a complete loon, so that says a lot that he's on board now. I hope the people take note and remember who needs to be punished severely for this disaster come November. Then, Obama will be a complete lame duck since the republicans will remember the health care bill and crush any chance he has of ever passing anything again. I guess it's a tradeoff: one disaster bill passes, but at least there will be no more after November.

When you see a poll, keep in mind that they usually poll the general population. I'd bet that if you poll the "likely to vote" population (which tends to be older and less likely to agree to socialism), the opposition to this bill is huge. November will be hammer time.

From what I've heard, there are people who say they are against the bill if there's no chance of passing but would switch their vote if its close.
