Kubuntu X64 and dial up.

When I try to use the Adept thing and update the repositories it doesn't update them all. It starts to download what is in some of them and then it must time out or something because it will jump from like 14% to 100%? I need to know how can I fix it so that it will update the software list? I need the repositories because I need to install firefox, flash, and some other stuff that I need, like Java etc. I need to know if I can do all this and be satisfied with dialup. Dialup is the only connection that I have available to me.

Thanks for any help you may offer.

BTW: Do I need to just ditch the X64 version and go with the 32 bit version?

Thanks.

It should tell you why it's failing to update, run 'sudo apt-get update' from the console and see if it tells you anything.
