Kubuntu Resolution/Graphics Problem

Hey,
I just installed Kubuntu as a dual boot on my PC. I am still a linux noob, so bare with me. I tried installing the nvidia graphics drivers and settings through the system packaging program. However, in my display settings it still shows my max resolution as 1024x768, but in windows I can get much better resolutions than this. Also, should the nvidia settings program be showing up somewhere for me to be able to change stuff?

Any help would be wonderful, thanks.

What is the brand/model of your monitor? If you post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and your monitor information I'll edit it for you
