My wifes computer has an ABIT KT7E motherboard with 512MB RAM, Athlon @ 1333MHz. It has an AWE32 (I know its old) and a GeForce 3 TI 200, also a 40 gig maxtor 7200 rpm drive I have the latest bios installed and all the needed XP updates.

Ok here's the question. I have under device manager an "unsupported" device. It says no drivers are installed and is listed as VIA tech pci to isa bridge.

I thought maybe it needed updated 4 in 1 drivers so I got the latest ones and installed them. Anyone know why I am getting this "unsupported" device listed? Thanx in advance.

well i've done some searching at VIA and a couple other places and you seem to have a unique problem . if your not having any problem other than the device mngr error just disable it and get on with your life , or you can try a fresh install .
good luck

p.s. just to try , if you have an ISA card laying around see if it works ok or if windows then installs the driver.

Thanx for helping me look for a solution.

What got this whole thing started was my wife wanted "Earth & Beyond" that space MMORPG. So I installed it for her and for some reason it crashes either to the desktop or to a reboot. It was all patched up (the game) but when her character tries to enter the world it crashes within a few seconds. So that's why I started looking/updating at her configuration and drivers and stuff. I installed E & B on both my laptop and desktop computer and it plays just fine.

Anyway that was the main reason I noticed the "unsupported device."

She had also been experiencing crashes in Dungeonsiege but that has been cleared up with my efforts so far.

The only other thing I had done was update to the latest bios (which is listed as a KT7 bios....even though it is linked from the KT7E) and I have not put in any aggressive settings for memory or anything.

Oh well maybe I'll try reinstalling windows from a clean install. (with drive image!)
