I have tried everything I can thin of...defragging, setting CPU to defaults, slowing memory down, speeding it up, playing different MP3 players......

when I play MP3...i occasionally get skips in the music, these skips do not repeat themselves in the same place when I replay the song. It seems to be kinda be when I may click on a window, or open a program.... such as a memory spike but when running trhe resource meter I dont see any drops...... this aggravates me ALOT.

I love my board and my Tbird1000 BUT I have encountered alot of little inconsistencies with the way my hardware works with this board than my Be6 board. I DO have the latest 4in1 and USB filters installed....

Good point... I have a SB LIve 5.1 Platinum. I thought I had the latest drivers BUT never checked if there were any updates regarding the VIA chipset as there was with my Sidewinder Force Feedback..... I'll check that out too.

Any other suggestions?

I just installed the new Phillips Acoustic Edge. Everything was great except DVD software playback. Spent an hour re configuring and swapping cables to find out the newest drivers addressed the problem :)

I have the SB Live! X-Gamer with the same mobo...no problems...MP3's are awesome...ALWAYS get the newest drivers for everything...sound, video, etc...

BTW, this Abit KT7A-RAID is a GREAT board...so stable...check my rigs...I also had a Duron 650@891...without even trying (cost me $47)...I'm flyin' the AMD flag :)

Ya know.... the more I play with this board, the more aggravating things get. i DO LIKE the board but Im coming across alot of trouble spots. I think I figured out my MP3 problem,,, ( no newer drivers were available tho) NOW I get a problem with my HP Photosmart 1000 printer when connected via USB... it either A) isnt working and giving me the good ol yellow ! or B) it causes my USB Intellimouse Explorer to freeze up when I try and print....

Listen to me whine...... I know how stable this thing is but I havent seen it yet!

If you have anything in your 4th PCI slot, try to move it to another slot. I had problems with my USB printer when I had my ethernet card in PCI Slot 4. Seems like PCI Slot 4 shares resources with the USB. Everytime I tried surfing the net while printing would result with the printer losing connecting to the USB port :(. After I switched the ethernet card out of the 4th PCI slot, printer works great! I understand the frustration, but once you get the board working perfect, it's a screamer! Don't give up! Good luck.

The MP3 skipping is back.... I am stoked. interesting thing is that this system is runing stable on all bench tests and at a nice low temp. I tried defragging, no help.... I tried differnt MP3 players...nothing.

I am starting to guess it may be a result of my RAID 0 boot setup. Maybe what Il will do is reformatt and install AGAIN from scratch and see if this problem occurs with minimal DEVICES installed.....

If it is still there then I may try setting up a NON RAID reformat and see again..

I am convinced that there are quite a few issues with this VIA Chipset that the experts havent seen yet. My system is like most of yours, high end parts, no skimping..... clean installs and I am somewhat experienced at all this so the problems I have experienced have me stoked. I also have a problem with ME and my DirecPC network card that I NEVER had with ME and my preview P3/Abit BE62 board.....
