Hi,

On the KT7A-RAID the capacitors are moved back a little so people with chrome orbs etc won't have any problems, however they are still too close for the Super Orb to be placed! I've heard of some people managing to bend the capacitors slightly to fit their Chrome Orbs and what not, how has that worked so far? Is there anyone who's fitted a Super Orb onto their KT7A yet? is yours still okay after bending the capacitors?

I've actually got an idea about sawing off a small part of the orb (the part which is still connected to the base so the capacitors can slide under. What does everyone think?

Please dont make me cry by using the SuperORB, it really bites, I bought one for my Athlon 1ghz, and it wouldnt cool my Cpu below 50'C on a KT7 at default speed and voltage, I have modified my old p3 cooler (alpha PEP66) to fit my board in and my idle temps are now down to 30'c.. ThermalTake has a decent Rep and good availability, but their CPu coolers are simply not up to par when it comes to cooling anything that dissipates a lot of heat..

They aren't too shabby for P3's which are pretty cool running chips to begin with, and I love the BlueORB which does an excellent job of my KT7-RAID northbridge and Geforce-1, so I'm not ORB bashing in any way, just giving you another opinion.

Best of Luck to You

i wouldn't bend the capacitors at all, it's definitely not worth it for a heatsink, especially the s-orb.

Oh, www.thermaltake.com recently put up a mini-super orb too .5mm less in diameter. Just my luck eh?

There's really nowhere local I can buy even a socket cooler and by the time I order a new cooler and get this one replaced my warranty will be out so I'll look into making that lateral cut today.

No go on the capacitors gotcha

I have SuperOrb on KT7 with 1Ghz(OC to 1.1). Idle is 30C, at full load it's 44C max. This is good cooler unless you need crazy cooling.
If you go with Sorb, don't bend capacitors, just cut heatsink at the bottom a little(use medium file).
By the way, I run both SOrb fans at 7 volts(almost can't hear them).
