spec : kt7a raid, tb 800, win 98se 2nd edit, aiw radeon.

Just put in a linksys nic card on pci slot right next to agp port. Worked fine all weekend and then suddenly yesterday when booting up, it won't boot into windows. After multiple tries, windows only recognizes the video card as "pnp generic display adapter" with 640x480 at 16 color max.

Tried changing display driver to the radeon driver but windows warns that the hardware detected does not match the driver to be installed & bsod.

Any suggestions?

Thx.

Your NIC may be sharing IRQ w/ your video card if its in the slot directly below the AGP slot...tyr moving it to another slot.

Also, boot into safe mode and remove all the old radeon drivers.

If my nic is sharing irq w/agp slot, can the system act normal for 2-3 days and then have problems all of a sudden? I always thought that irq prob are immediately apparent...

I moved the nic to another pci, computer only recognizes the display hardware as "generic pnp."

Any other possibilities?

thx.

From memory if your Radeon is not being picked up properly anymore it would show it as a VGA adapter not a generic pnp display. A generic pnp display usually refers to your monitor. Maybe dig up some drivers for your monitor.

My mistake - the display is detected at planar 17.4 in correctly...

It's the video card being detected at pnp and auto installed with pnp driver.

thx
