KT7A problem

I bought a KT7A and a 800MHz duron.
When I boot the computer it says DURON 800MHz(100*8.0)
CMOS checksum error- Defaults loaded. Then I press F1 and continue booting, when I restart windows. The computer reboots and says CPU is unworkable or has been changed. please recheck CPU SOFT MENU. So I go into the bios and it is set for a 500MHz duron I change it so that it is set for a 800MHz duron. I then save the changes.
When the computer tries to reboot the monitor never recieves a signal, my computer is on I can hear the fans and harddrive running but there is nothing displayed on my monitor. To use the computer agian I have to clear the CMOS. When I do that it is agian set up for a 500MHz duron. I don't know if there something wrong with my motherboard or processor.
any help would be appriciated

It seems your bios is having a hard time. I would start by clearing out all cards except the video card (obviously) and see how it boots. If it works, then you know one of the other cards is bad. If not, plug in another video card and then try another processor and then play with the memory (assuming you can get ahold of spares).
Another system available to swap parts with would be optimal. Assuming you are positive everything else is fine, video, memory and CPU basically, then you might want to try to flash the bios with the latest version, it could just be corrupt.
After that, I would have to say return the MB. Just don't be too quick to blame the motherboard. Sometimes something as simple as a card or memory not seated properly can cause havoc and returning a good motherboard is just a waste of time and postage. It would be best if you could find another system to put your video and/or cpu into to see if they work there.

I assuming that -the battery is good - you haven't improperly closed the jumpers on the cpu - you haven't got arctic silver all over the bridges on the cpu - you haven't pulled the clear cmos jumper without pulling out the power cord - the cpu fan is on connector 1, the one thats farther away.
ok then. - turn off the power - hold down the insert key on the keyboard, turn on the power, and continue holding down the insert key till you see the cmos come on your monitor, then enter the bios and make any changes you need. If you can't get it to boot, do the same thing again. This makes it reboot at the cpu default speed.
