Alright, will putting artic silver between the heatsink and the northbridge help any? and also, is there any other high speed fan that i can buy that will fit over the heatsink, or act as a heatsink and fan for the northbridge on my kt7a? Any help is appreciated! thanks!

Most probably will, especially if you plan to reach really high bus speeds.

Yeah, i was trying to get my kt7a and duron 600 to run at 1050 with 7 x 150 in win2k, and it just wouldn't go, i mean it would boot and everything, but would lock up once i went to the web, so i asked on here, and everyone too pointed that maybe either the board or the memory couldn't handle the 150 setting, so i settled for 147 x 7. But then today i noticed my blue orb had a wire stopping the fan on my vid card, and that ended up being the problem all along! so now i'm happily running 1050 at 1.8v on my kt7a, but i'm just wondering if it will make a difference if i can remove the fan and get a bigger one, or better heatsink. If anyone knows, or have tried to put a bigger fan and heatsink on the kt7a, could ya post here? thanks!

By the way, anyone know how to get the heatsink off the northbridge? Those little white stupid clips? thanks.

I know this isn't helpful, but I remember seeing an article on this on either ard|OCP or on ocaddiction.

That's ok, I can't get past 137! I have it running at 136 right now tho... Hey BTW, how do you turn on CAS 2? I thought I did it, but then it says it's running CAS 3.. WTF?

I did it today (the arctic silver II on the northbridge). Abit is suck- their thermal grease didn't cover even 1/4 of the chip, and it was all on the upper left corner, where I doubt it would do anyone any good. I applied a very thin layer of AS. I am now stable at 6.5x152, whereas before I could only get 150. So, yeah, it's worth it if you've got the time. The little HSF unit can be removed pretty easily, just crimp the little plastic things from the bottom of the board and push them up. I used needle nose pliers, your results may vary.

Forgot to mention that the highest I've gotten is 159, at 5.5x for a total 875 or so.

no, there should be no use. with the default settings you should be able to go over 160MHz already. your memory is what killing the system. adding in an artic silver won't help any o/c

Hm... almost makes me wanna take my mobo out and try it. And no, my ram is not what's limiting my system, it runs fine at 155 cas2. I actually tested my ram cause i thought that might be the problem, so i turned it down to cas 3, and set it to normal i think, and it wouldn't even boot, but when i set it to cas 2 turbo it runs fine, weird? Well i think i might put some AS on the northbridge. Thanks for the help!
