KT7A mobo and HP scanner(usb)

I've been trying to figure this out for weeks. I'm not sure what I did or didn't do, but when I try to scan anything, it won't start and I get a message that it can't turn on the usb port and I need to check in my bios. The thing I can't get is that my keyboard and mouse are usb and they work great. I've re-installed the usb filter numerous times, no luck. I've un-installed the scanner and software and rebooted then reinstalled it. I've connected to two other computers, no problems. It used to work on this machine before, any ideas? The scanner is a HP 3300c.
