KT7A-"CPU is unworkable"on my first system

I just built my first system. It has an Abit KT7A with a Duron 800. It seems to run fine, but when I start the computer it says:

"Primary slave hard disk fail"
"CPU is unworkable or has been changed. Please recheck - CPU SOFTMENU"

I do not have a slave on the primary. I only have a 20GB Maxtor as the master. Can I fix these things in the BIOS, or do I have the hardware screwed up? I would appreciate any advice. Dank für die Hilfe.

Yeah, this is a common problem. All you need to do is go into the BIOS, under Softmenu III manually set your CPU to 800 MHz, by default it's set to 600 I believe. As for the hard disk, make sure they're all set to auto.

Sounds like your BIOS is confused. I'd try clearing the CMOS using the jumper on the motherboard, then setting everything up again in the BIOS. Make sure the CPU type is set correctly and set the drive types to "auto".

edit damn techwhore just beat me in....
