KT7 Wont Detect Maxtor with 80 pin cable only 40 pin??

I have the Abit KT7 and I cant get it to work with the 80 pin cable it dosent detect my maxtor DP 40 hard drive. works just fine with the 40 pin cable?? I have tried using different 80 pin cables to no avail and my KT7 has the latest bios update??

Sorry... this isn't really an answer to your question, but a comment on your post.

Try posting it in a different forum, like the Tech Support forum or (heaven forbid) the General Hardware forum.

There it's GUARANTEED not to sit on top all day!
